Courtney graduated from the University of Kentucky (twice), once with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a second time with a Masters of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with 10 years of experience, and provides Clinical Supervision to Certified Social Workers working towards their independent licensure.
Being trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as well as being a total brain nerd makes Courtney a keen and tuned-in Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She started her career working with early childhood trauma, with training in Child Parent Psychotherapy, and adolescent issues, trained as a Seven Challenges Leader.
Courtney has been a long time activist for social justice and equity - spending much of her young adult years canvasing, tabling, and protesting. Nowadays she spends most of her time parenting and living life true to those ideals.
Throughout her undergraduate and graduate career Courtney focused a portion of her studies on Human Sexuality and Education, including a graduate level study aboard of LGBTQ Health Promotion in the Netherlands.
Currently, Courtney spends a large portion of her practice working with women dealing with anxiety. After working for several years in a psychiatric hospital, Courtney is very comfortable working with the complexities of anxiety and suicidality in an outpatient setting.
The Mindful Practice is a small practice tailored to a limited number of clients. The intention is for the practice to stay small and dedicated to the people it serves.
